Frequently Asked Questions

Our dress code is casual. Acceptable attire for men is jeans, a casual button-up shirt or fashionable t-shirt, and nice sneakers. We ask that men do not wear shorts, sandals, or baseball style caps. Dress code for women is lenient. Flats are recommended due to the amount of walking (up to 8 blocks per night). Themed events and holiday weekends often have special dress codes. See the specific date info on the purchase page for details.
The meeting location is on the event page where you made your reservation. It is also stated in your confirmation email. We alternate starting spots, so be sure to check this before you come out.
We visit 4 bars per evening.
Generally the only difference between our ticket types are price & refundability. Click on the "details" link next to each ticket type for the specifics of that ticket.
Since each group is so different, your Host does not choose the specific selection of bars for any given evening until they meet you. Check out "Our Venues" page to get a feel for our bars, or head over to our facebook page to see pictures from our past events!

Most of our pub crawls start at 8pm with the last stop usually being at about 11:15pm. However, most crawlers stay out and party with us all night! Some crawls have special starting times so be sure to check the event page or your confirmation email to confirm the starting time before you come out.
Each bar offers a different selection of exclusive drink specials to our guests. Some examples are a complimentary drink, 50% off your tab, or buy one get one.
Yes. Each crawl is scheduled based on the number of people we have coming out. Walk-ups without a reservation are not guaranteed entry.
Yes. In order to make a reservation, you must prepay for your tickets. Customers who choose to pay cash in person are not guaranteed entry if a crawl fills up. Additionally, they pay a higher entry fee.
Our Groupon availability for each crawl is very limited. To check availability, click on the "buy tickets" button in the header, choose a date from our calendar, then click the blue "Have a password?" link at the top. Enter the password "groupon", all lowercase. The secret ticket type will appear at the top. Adjust the quantity to match the number of tickets your voucher is valid for. If there aren't enough to match your voucher, you will need to buy tickets directly through San Diego Pub Crawler. You can always return your Groupon for a full refund by contacting Groupon directly.
You will received 2 confirmation emails. One will be from NightOut and confirms your payment, the second is directly from San Diego Pub Crawler and gives you all the details about the crawl. If you do not receive your emails within 24 hours, please check your spam box before calling us.
The host will be in a San Diego Pub Crawler t-shirt, and will generally have a clipboard and wristbands laid out on a table in front of the meeting location. If you cannot find your host, simply ask the bar staff and they should be able to direct you to your guide.
Our pub crawls vary depending on the day of the week and season. However, most of our crawls fall between the range of 12 to 35 people per evening.
Check-in is typically from 8pm to 8:40pm unless otherwise stated in your confirmation email. If you there is a chance anyone in your group will be arriving after 8:40pm you will need to purchase a “Late Check-In” ticket add-on for $5/per ticket. Each add-on allows a single person to check-in until 9:45pm by meeting the host at the 2nd bar. This option is not available for every pub crawl.
We believe there is something for everyone on our crawls and we actively encourage people of all legal ages to join us, however, the majority of our guests are age 21-45.
We strongly encourage you to bring your passport. It is not uncommon for bars to refuse foreign drivers licenses, identification cards, and green cards.
Yes! You will be carded at every bar regardless of your age.
Each ticket type has a different refund policy. Please read the "details" of each ticket type to determine the refundability. Generally, tickets are either nonrefundable, refundable up until 72 hours before the event, or refundable up until 24 hours before the event depending on which type you purchase. All tickets purchased within 24 hours of the event are nonrefundable.
Although it is very rare, pub crawls can be cancelled. All pub crawls are subject to cancellation based on a required number of reservations, extreme weather, and other circumstances. You will receive an email by 4pm the day of the crawl if the crawl has been cancelled and offered the opportunity to rebook a different date or receive a full refund. If you are on vacation and would like to know your crawl status sooner, simply call or email us.
Our pub crawls are a rain or shine event. If there is a cancellation for any reason you will be notified via email by 4pm the day of your crawl.
It’s easy! First, choose your special event and take a look at our packages here. Then, give us a call at 619-994-7781 when you are ready and we can walk you through the whole process by phone. It only takes about 15 minutes to plan an awesome event in the Gaslamp District!
Most groups of 20 people or less book 3 to 6 weeks in advance. If your group is more than 20 people we recommend 6 to 10 weeks. Keep in mind, we only allow 2 private parties per evening and once these spots are gone, they are gone! So it’s always better to reserve sooner than later!
Once you are ready to book we will briefly discuss your event with you by phone so that we can better understand the dynamic of your group. Once we have a feel for the party you are looking to create, we go through the bar selection process with you, choosing each bar specifically for your group. Next we decide a custom starting time to fit your schedule. Then lastly, you place down your deposit. The whole process takes as little as 15 minutes!
Private pub crawls can be run for any size group, and have no maximum or minimum size. However, our pub crawls do have a financial minimum of 10 people. If your group falls below 10 people, you will still be charged for the 10 person minimum.
We require a 50% deposit based on your expected total number of guests in order to reserve a date and starting time for your crawl.
Cancellation requests made at least 72 hours in advance forfeit $150 of their deposit, which can be used as a credit for 1 year. Cancellations inside 72 hours of the crawl are completely nonrefundable.
All of our hosts are experienced tour guides and party aficionados who are ready to show you a good time! After you book your party, you receive all of your hosts contact info the week of your event.
Our dress code is casual, however, we ask that men do not wear shorts, sandals, or baseball style caps. Backpacks are prohibited as well.

No. Private crawls are specifically built for your group! Your crawl will only be the people you invite and an SDPC host.
Depending on the option you select, private pub crawls can last anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
Yes. We do have an option where an event page can be created so that each participant can purchase their own ticket. This option is an additional $5/ticket. Alternatively, there is no additional per ticket charge for using one credit card to pay for the event.
